In just 30 credits, you undergo advanced training to design and deliver real-world data solutions. You learn how to process and analyze data from multiple sources, build scalable data pipelines, extract meaningful insights and develop full-stack systems. By combining data engineering, applied analytics and AI techniques, you gain the ability to solve complex problems from initial data collection through final deployment.
Beyond core courses, you can specialize in Data Engineering. This track builds expertise in data warehousing, big data and distributed systems while advancing your skills in generative AI and prompt engineering for scalable, real-world applications.
Culminating Experience
To solidify your theoretical knowledge and applied data expertise, your time in the Master of Science in Applied Data Intelligence program concludes with a culminating experience.
Your first option is to complete a thesis, which includes a two-course sequence. You will conduct original research under the guidance of a faculty committee and produce a thesis that meets San José State University’s graduate education standards.
The second option is to complete a project. In this two-course applied sequence, you collaborate with a small team and a faculty advisor to design and execute a comprehensive data or development project, culminating in a detailed written report and presentation.
